So I guess the turbo noise was deliberately loud in the previous video's because it seems to be toned down in the cabin compared to the first video's on the hewoiuoa. It looks like it is marvelously a handful on the track with plenty of room for throttle oversteer.

On another note, I'm not a fan of head mounted Gopro's they are a little bit nausea inducing. . .

Throttle oversteer yes but my god that was an unholy amount of understeer going into almost every corner for a mid-engined supercar....not encouraging. Just hate how 'drive-able' supercars are becoming.

I saw two things in this video:

2) Even at those speeds, with that amount of oversteer, Italians will still take a hand off of the wheel to gesticulate when they talk

I give Pagani high marks for their craftsmanship and attention to detail, but that interior looks like something out of a futurist version of a New Orleans brothel.

And I understand that Pagani is telling us the constant 'whooshing' sound of the turbos is part of the engine's charm and appeal, but I can never hear anything else. It was interesting at first....but now its just annoying. It's as if I can have that engine serviced at an authorized Dyson dealer.

Look at the way he snaps around. He's inconsistent and therefor the car is inconsistent. His arms and hands are all over the place, especially after the 2:00 mark. If you ever go to autocross or a PDX event and an instructor sees you doing that he'll rip you apart. Even if you're driving a Mini Cooper, much less a Huayra....

Watch a driver from any fast, professional sports car series. WRC, V8 Supercars, F1, doesn't matter take your pick. They all are so much more relaxed and calm than this guy.

I love Speedhunters, and I follow them daily, but as I said his skills are not up to par "FOR THIS CAR". I know he can drive, but not something like this car on this track at least.

So then it's a million-dollar typical coupe?

I understand it's not an F1 car, but that only means if this guy was put in an F1 car he'd kill himself driving like this.

Kinja'd!!! Mikeado > 04sneaky - Boxers. Blowers. Bikes. And bitches.
10/07/2013 at 16:31

Kinja'd!!!0

Road tyres, more weight, less downforce and road-tuned suspension mean that road cars are a completely different kettle of fish to racing cars. An F1 car sticks like glue in most situations because it makes its own body weight or more in downforce (more and more as it goes faster, of course) and has slick tyres, whereas a road car of any kind does not. It's another level. He'd be able to set OK lap times in an F1 car with some practice and fitness training.

Remember also, he's done thousands of miles of testing in Huayras. He knows them inside out.

Kinja'd!!! 04sneaky - Boxers. Blowers. Bikes. And bitches. > Mikeado
10/07/2013 at 16:40

Kinja'd!!!0

Once again, you're assuming that street driving and track driving go hand in hand. And you assume that Pagani is pulling a Bugatti, where they just throw some numbers on a car and don't actually make it function. Which is a joke, and Horacio would slap you in the face for saying it.

And, obviously you've never watched an F1 car with an inexperienced driver. Or even an experienced driver who is just inexperienced with something as fast as an F1 car. They stick like glue because of the drivers, not because of the car.

We can debate all day here, but the fact is his erratic handling of the car is not impressive. You can't watch the video and tell me his hand placement and reactions are justified. Any experienced SCCA driver could tell you that what I'm saying is true. It may have just been his nerves, it may have been the car, but HIS reactions and actions were not up to par for this level of car.

Kinja'd!!!0

I'm not aware that I assumed any of that. But hey, if you can read minds...

I'm not saying any idiot can drive an F1 car. But they do make crazy amounts of downforce, which adds grip and stability at high speed. I remember reading someone saying that [if you're a racing driver] they're quite easy to drive at 7 or 8 tenths, but to go the rest of the way is where driver skill really comes in. Maybe I mis-spoke when I said he could set decent times in one, but otherwise I stand by my point.

This is a twin-turbo road car sending 730bhp to the rear wheels. It's a handful. There's no way it wouldn't be. If you're going to try driving something like a Huayra or M600 or whatever fast on a track, you have to expect oversteer, and he controlled all the oversteer he encountered. You can't directly compare road and racing cars. There's more weight that's moving around more, less mechanical grip and less aerodynamic grip. I bet you if he drove a racing car he'd look about as calm as say a Pro-Am GT racer.
